Pool Row Knife Yob Gets Six Years For Stabbing

From: Glasgow Daily Record, UK - Jul 5, 2006

A KNIFE thug who left a deaf-mute man for dead in a sickening unprovoked attack was jailed for six years yesterday.

Peter Bradley, 45, brutally assaulted victim Gordon Sellar after a dispute about whose turn it was to play pool.

The High Court in Glasgow was told that Gordon and a friend, who is also deaf and mute, were playing pool and chatting with each other in sign language in a pub.

But one of Bradley's friends rubbed their names off the board.

Minutes later, Gordon went to the toilet and Bradley followed him.

Bradley punched and kicked Gordon before pulling a knife and repeatedly stabbing him in the head and body.

Bradley, of Cardross Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow, admitted assaulting Mr Sellar to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement, permanent impairment and to the danger.

The attack happened in the Fat Cats pub in Craigpark, Glasgow, on February 10.

The court was told Gordon was bleeding badly from his wounds but no one in the pub offered to help him at all.

He and his friend went by taxi to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where hospital staff contacted police and a sign language interpreter.

Detectives sealed off the pub while forensic scientists carried out tests.

When Bradley was interviewed, he denied even being in the pub and staff and customers claimed they were not aware of any incident.

Sentencing Bradley, who has previous convictions for assault and possession of an offensive weapon, Lady Dorrian said she was imposing the lengthy sentence for the protection of the public.
