CROFTON -- Crofton Yoga is offering an eight-week course on yoga for the hearing impaired starting Sunday.

Jacci Reynolds, owner of the studio, said this is the first time she's offered Level 1 traditional yoga for the hearing impaired.

"We'd like to serve the community a variety of ways," she said.

Ms. Reynolds said she's contacted local deaf communities, including Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.

"We're very excited about it We're hoping it will grow."

The class, taught by Karen Matthew, will concentrate on proper body alignment and breathing techniques. Ms. Matthew will use mirrors, sign language and vibration to communicate with students. The eight-week session will run from at 4 to 5:15 p.m. This initial session costs $52, which is half price. Dropping in, or attending one class at a time, costs $10 per class.
