Sinclair wins Deaflympics silver

Northern Ireland's Anthony Sinclair had to settle for a silver medal after losing in the men's singles final at the Deaflympics in Australia.

The 20-year-old from Crawfordsburn was beaten 1-6, 1-6, 3-6 in Thursday's decider by number one seed Ronald-Oliver Krieg from Germany.

Sinclair, seeded sixth, had clinched his place by beating Zengbao Yang of China 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-finals.

The tournament was staged at the Boroondara Tennis Centre in Melbourne.

Sinclair, a student at Sheffield Hallam University, also won a bronze medal in the men's doubles, partnering Darren O'Donnell.
