MSSD Performing Arts Presents "RED HOT JAZZ": A Winter Dance Concert

The Performing Arts Department at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) cordially invites schools and programs in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area to attend a performance of its 23rd Annual Winter Dance Concert, "RED HOT JAZZ," February 17-19, 2005. Come and experience the imaginative dance choreography and at the same time receive an introduction to deaf culture. Performances are accessible to all audiences—deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing! School and programs are welcome.

"RED HOT JAZZ" features MSSD students performing a variety of dance genres.

The concert will include dance pieces of well-known deaf and hearing choreographers: Marcia Freeman, modern dance; Irvine Stewart, jazz; Elizabeth Matthews, Irish folk dance; Brandi Johnson, Afro jazz; Crystal Sermons, hip-hop; and Yola Rozynek, producer/director/choreographer, ballet/modern dance.

The Winter Dance Concert will also feature performances by guest dance companies: Stewart Carrera, Eleanor Roosevelt High School Dance Company, TLI Dance Company, Wild Zappers/National Deaf Dance Theatre, Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh & Company, and Canae Weiss.

When: February 17, 2005, at 10 a.m.; February 18 and 19, 2005, at 8 p.m.

Tickets: $8 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens (ID required)
