NTID ANNOUNCES NEW STAFF HIRES

Student Life and Web Posts Filled

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 12—The National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology recently announced the following new hires:

Astrid Jones, of Rochester, has been hired as educational development coordinator for the NTID Student Life Team. He is responsible for designing and implementing programming for first-year students, training student mentors and advising student organizations, among many other projects. He brings seven years of related experience, most recently as a residential educator at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. He has a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from Gallaudet University.

Matt Dana, of Rochester, has been hired as the NTID Marketing Communications Web developer. Dana develops and maintains pages for the NTID Web site, develops e-mail newsletters, and focuses on improving NTID's online presence. He most recently was an instructional designer at Element K in Rochester. Before that, he worked at RIT, developing and implementing Web sites and pages for the Alumni Relations and Development departments. He has a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, with a minor in Mass Media Communication, from RIT.

NTID is the first and largest technological college in the world for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. One of eight colleges of RIT, NTID offers educational programs and access and support services to 1,100 students from around the world who study, live, and socialize with 14,400 hearing students on the RIT campus.
