News Release: Panasonic selects Dspfactory to deliver superior digital audio performance in advanced hearing aids

From: Dspfactory - Sept 1, 2004

WATERLOO, ON, September 1, 2004 -- Dspfactory Ltd., a leading provider of ultra-low power digital signal processing (DSP) technology for digital hearing aids, wireless headsets and other portable audio devices, announced today that its Toccata Plus chip has been selected by Panasonic Hearing Instruments Co. Ltd. for the AYA Plus series of advanced digital hearing instruments.

Toccata Plus provides hearing aid manufacturers a proven and highly adaptable platform to quickly deliver the superior sound quality made possible by digital signal processing. With its open system architecture, Toccata Plus can be easily configured for a broad range of hearing profiles. One-third of the world's largest hearing aid manufacturers rely on Toccata Plus to make communication easier for device wearers.

"We were impressed by the flexibility of Toccata Plus," said Masami Kawabuchi, president of Panasonic Hearing. "We've developed some very sophisticated technology to make AYA Plus uniquely suitable for the Japanese market. Toccata Plus had the versatility to do what we needed to give our hearing aid users an outstanding listening experience."

Dspfactory's DSP-based audio systems are specifically designed for devices where exceptional sound quality, ultra-low power consumption, and miniaturization are critical design requirements.

Toccata Plus is being supplied to Panasonic through Dspfactory's Tokyo-based distributor, JEPICO Corporation. Dspfactory announced a partnership with JEPICO in February.

"We are delighted to have our technology selected by an innovative global leader like Panasonic," said Dspfactory CEO and president Robert Tong. "The Japanese electronics market is an exciting growth opportunity for Dspfactory, and we're pleased to see such a positive reception for our association with JEPICO."
