A 17-year-old Bush High School student remained in critical, but stable, condition last week after being shot in his Village of Oak Lake home by an unknown suspect who fired a shot through the window of the teen's home. The youth had been watching television in the family's living room and was walking up the stairs to go to bed when a shot was fired through a front window striking him in the back in the 16500 block of Ember Hollow Lane.
The hearing impaired 17-year-old, identified as Syed Khawar, was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital shortly after the 10:30 p.m. shooting Wednesday.
Fort Bend County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Craig Brady says the case remains under investigation. However, there is reason to believe the shooting was not random. Because of the on-going nature of the investigation, no further details could be released now, he says.
