FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

9/11 FEAR IN SILENCE: THE FORGOTTEN UNDERDOGS Now Available on DVD

New York City [June 5, 2007] - The controversial new film, 9/11 FEAR IN SILENCE: THE FORGOTTEN UNDERDOGS, is now available on DVD. The film is the latest from director and producer Ann Marie "Jade" Bryan, an award-winning African-American Deaf filmmaker.

The film has been nominated for best documentary feature at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, and is still touring the film festival circuit across the country. 9/11 FEAR IN SILENCE was recently screened at the Sweet Auburn International Film Festival in Atlanta, and several film distributors are offering international and domestic distribution for home DVD sales and broadcast television rights.

The 88-minute film takes the viewer on a deeply personal journey into the lives of the World Trade Center survivors and witnesses, who were among the last to receive access to critical information on September 11, 2001. "This documentary highlights unique individuals' testimonies and their perspectives about the attacks on the World Trade Center," Jade says. "They unveil how they survived 9/11 and their views about the evils of terrorism. It's a chilling and somber documentary that provides an in-depth look at what it was like for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in the city that day."

A longer version of the film, available for educational and research purposes, is 144 minutes, and includes a quest to improve equal access for public transportation information provided by the Metropolitan Transit Authority system. This quest stems from the MTA's failure to meet the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community's communication needs in response to 9-1-1 emergency situations at the city, state and federal levels.

Jade was the first Deaf African-American filmmaker to graduate from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She is also the only known award-winning African-American Deaf filmmaker with film credentials under her belt.

The 88-minute version of the DVD is a limited edition and available only for a short time at $39.95. The educational 144-minute version is $150 for the film festival version and $275 for the complete documentary, which includes commentary from the filmmaker and images. The film is presented in American Sign Language and spoken English, with English subtitles. The DVD is not rated, but viewers are advised for some parental guidance due to some disturbing sound effects & visual images.
