AG Bell Executive Director and CEO Steps Down

Washington, D.C., January 30, 2007 – The board of directors of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) today announced that K. Todd Houston, Ph.D., will be stepping down as executive director and CEO. The board will be meeting February 9-11 to finalize a transition plan and the process for recruiting an executive director to guide the organization going forward.

“AG Bell has taken significant steps to ensure that children with hearing loss have the opportunity to learn to listen and talk,” said Houston. “We have expanded our corporate partnership program, provided financial aid to hundreds of families and hosted several forums on the future of hearing health and spoken language education.”

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the association as the executive director, and I look forward to continuing my involvement in a volunteer capacity,” Houston added.

“Todd Houston joined AG Bell at a critical time, and the work he has done to encourage industry collaboration on issues related to childhood hearing loss have been instrumental in positioning the organization for future growth,” said Karen Youdelman, Ed.D., president of the AG Bell board. “We wish him well in his new endeavors.”

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing helps families, health care providers and education professionals understand childhood hearing loss and the importance of early diagnosis and intervention. Through advocacy, education, research and financial aid, AG Bell helps to ensure that every child with hearing loss has the opportunity to learn to listen and talk.
