Gallaudet Names Three Finalists for Interim President

From: WJLA - Washington,DC,USA - Dec 6, 2006

The nation's top school for the deaf is choosing an interim president this weekend.

A search committee at Gallaudet University has named three finalists for the position.

They include William Marshall and Stephen Weiner - who are both professors at the school - and Robert Davila, a former assistant secretary of education.

The university was the scene of major protests this fall by students who were unhappy with the incoming president. In response, the board revoked Jane Fernandes' contract.

The interim president will lead the school for the next one and a half to two years while the board searches for another permanent president.
