MoPix Update from WGBH- January 27

THREE MOPIX FILMS DEBUTING THIS WEEK

Big Mamma's House 2, cc dvs, Twentieth Century Fox Films, rated PG-13
FBI agent Malcolm Turner (Martin Lawrence) goes undercover as the rather enormous old lady known as Big Momma. To avert a national security disaster, he (she?) takes a job as a nanny-housekeeper in a suspected baddie's house, only to be trapped with three annoying children.

Nanny McPhee, cc dvs, Universal Pictures, rated PG
The widowed Mr. Brown (Colin Firth) and his seven misbehaving children, led by the eldest, Simon (Thomas Sangster), have scared away 17 previous nannies. Brown fears that the latest, Nanny McPhee (Emma Thompson), is going to be another name on that unfortunate list. But soon the kids notice that their usual shenanigans don't work on the new nanny. In fact, they lead to serious consequences.

Roving Mars, cc dvs, a large format film from Buena Vista Pictures showing in select IMAX theaters Formerly MISSION TO MARS. Is there life on Mars? That is one of the questions posed by this IMAX film, which details the journey of "Spirit" and "Opportunity", two rovers exploring the red planet. The documentary uses images shot by the "MERs" (Mars Exploration Rovers), vehicles that fly to Mars and send back images to Earth. The film will be designed to give the feeling that audiences are actually walking on Mars, using parts of Antarctica as a double for Mars. Footage was shot at the Cape Canaveral rocket launches in June/July 2003. Filming for MARS began in January 2004 when the robotic landers arrived on Mars.
