Alan Stricklin, 27, Kimberly Williams, 25, and Tiffany Simmons, 22, graduated from Midlands Technical College in the spring — the first deaf students to do so in 10 years. It also marked the first time the school had graduated three deaf students in the same year.

Since graduation, all three have continued their journeys of success.

Stricklin is in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management at the University of South Carolina. He is working part time as a peer support specialist for deaf services for the Department of Mental Health. He and his wife recently bought a house in West Columbia.

Williams is taking a math course at Midlands Tech and is studying to become a certified medical record coder. She and her husband live in Elgin.

Simmons works at the Columbia Eye Clinic and lives in Columbia.
