Jobs for hearing impaired teens session's focus
From: Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil - Council Bluffs,IA,USA - Dec 29, 2005
Families living with a child's hearing loss are invited to participate in an Iowa Communications Network presentation on securing employment for the teen who is deaf or hard of hearing Thursday, Jan. 12, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Tips on interviewing and handling challenging questions will be presented. Perspectives from a parent as well as a student who continues his quest for employment will also be presented. Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Lions Foundations sponsor the sessions.
Sites for the ICN session will be reserved based on request. Individuals may inquire as to which sites may be most convenient for them when calling to register for the sessions. Explanations of how to use the ICN may be provided at the time of registration as well.
Registrations may be made to Cynthia Angeroth, Iowa School for the Deaf, (712) 366-3213 or cangeroth@iadeaf.k12.ia.us. If possible, registration requests for an ICN site should be made by Friday, Jan. 6.
The Iowa Communications Network enables individuals from across the state to have live interaction with one another via fiber optic connections. Participants see each other through television screens and communicate by depressing a microphone switch.
Families that would like a sign interpreter at their site (free of charge) should indicate this request when registering.
