Bohol Deaf Academy

IDEA Philippines has put up a new private high school for the Deaf. This new school known as Bohol Deaf Academy is situated on a hilltop overlooking the ocean in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines.

The schools doors were opened in June of 2005. This first group of students consists of 51 Deaf youth and the enrollment for June of 2006 is expected to be around 80.

Bohol Deaf Academy not only focuses on academic skill but stresses vocational training. Students are allowed to "job shadow" with adult Deaf who are already gainfully employed in various jobs.

Two of the five teachers at the Academy are deaf.
