NTID MAKES TECH SYMPOSIUM REPORT AVAILABLE

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 18—A summary of the 2005 Instructional Technology and Education of the Deaf: Supporting Learners, K-College Symposium hosted in part by the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology is now available online.

A two-page summary, along with links to many photographs and presentation resources is available at www.rit.edu/~techsym/2005prt.pdf.

A 16-page Overall Symposium Evaluation Summary Report is available at www.rit.edu/~techsym/Overall_Symposium_Evall_05.pdf.

Some 230 teachers, administrators, and technologists representing 17 countries attended the symposium, hosted by NTID, The Nippon Foundation of Japan and Postsecondary Education Network-International. Attendees learned about current and future innovations and developments as they relate to educational media and technology within the teaching and learning process.

“Copies of all papers, PowerPoint presentations, caption files and a video of each presentation at the symposium are available from the Web site so people who were unable to attend the symposium can benefit from the information shared during the conference,” said E. William Clymer, coordinator of PEN-International, an NTID grant program dedicated to bringing 21st century technology to deaf college students in developing countries. PEN-International is funded by grants from the Nippon Foundation of Japan to NTID.

NTID is the first and largest technological college in the world for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. One of eight colleges of RIT, NTID offers educational programs and access and support services to the 1,100 deaf and hard-of-hearing students from around the world who study, live, and socialize with 14,400 hearing students on RIT’s Rochester, N.Y., campus.
