The Colorado River Association Of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing Formed!

From: CRADHH - Jun 12, 2005

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLORADO RIVER ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF
AND HARD OF HEARING (CRADHH)
Announces its Formation!

Lake Havasu, AZ June 04, 2005 The Colorado River Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CRADHH) was formed during the 1st Annual Deaf Picnic in the Rotary Club beachfront in Lake Havasu City.

Deaf groups from the Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City, Kingman, Mohave Valley, Fort Mohave, Golden Valley, Arizona; Needles, California; and Laughlin, Nevada showed up for the gathering in a show of support for a much needed Deaf Resource and Support Center for Mohave County

CRADHH’s goal is to provide advocacy, promote, protect and preserve rights and quality of life of the deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the areas above.

Currently support services and staff for the deaf communities in the rural areas such those of the Mohave County are scarce and most are “solely” concentrated in the “big cities” of Tucson and Phoenix.

Robert (Bobby) Jacobs is Acting Director of the CRADHH and two elected representatives for each city have been assigned the “tough” job of drawing up the “incorporation and by-laws” of the organization.

Elected Representatives for Lake Havasu City are Bobby Jacobs and Angelina Ortiz; Bullhead City: (Golden Valley, Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley, Laughlin, Nevada): Cameron Tippetts; Kingman: Rae Henson and Pamela Bernal; Needles, CA: Carolyn Casianas. Deaf groups and organization from other cities along the Colorado River are welcome to join and become part of the CRADHH.

CRADHH would like to thank Mike Kemp, Lake Havasu City Fire Department, for the Squirt Trailer that entertained the children (and adults!) from the Deaf Picnic with water games; Judy Coles and Amy Van Rossen who assisted the facilitation of the meeting for the hearing and Deaf alike with interpreting (signed and voiced). Thanks also to Food City for the donation of paper products and Albertson’s for the donation of soda and water bottles.
