Hands On Video Relay Service Celebrates June as Mac Month

From: PR Newswire (press release) - Jun 2, 2005

ROCKLIN, Calif., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Hands On Video Relay Service, Inc. ( has declared June as "Mac Month" and will be celebrating with Town Hall events at locations throughout the country during the entire month of June. These celebrations are in recognition of Hands On continued support of Video Relay Services (VRS) for Macintosh users who are deaf and hard-of-hearing.

"The Macintosh is a perfect companion to the Hands On VRS product line. With the attention to detail that Apple gives to its products and the ease of using Apple's iChat A/V to place a VRS call, deaf and hard-of-hearing Macintosh OS X users can now easily connect to the hearing world. We're very proud to provide VRS to this community, which has been largely neglected by other VRS providers," said Ronald E. Obray, founder and President of Hands On. "By simply adding hovrsIM to an iChat A/V buddy list, and then connecting to a buddyname, anyone can easily place a VRS call. It really is that simple."

Hands On is currently the only VRS provider that offers a Macintosh VRS solution. The service, which was launched a year ago at the National Association for the Deaf conference in Kansas City, provides people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing access to the public phone network, enabling them to communicate with hearing callers.

Hands On will be hosting workshops at locations nationwide. For further information on these events, go to
