Filmmaker Jade's BioPic: Passion of Words Turning into Action: A Black Deaf Filmmaker's Journey selected for 2005 The San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (Frameline 29).

APRIL 26, 2005 (NEW YORK, NEW YORK) -- DeafVision Filmworks & JADE Films Productions are pleased to announce that The San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (Frameline 29) selected filmmaker Jade's BioPic: PASSION OF WORDS TURNING INTO ACTION: A BLACK DEAF FILMMAKER'S JOURNEY for two documentary award competitions and Frameline's prestigious Audience Awards.

Jade's BioPic will be screened at the Historical Landmark Castro Theater which seats 1400 spectators. Jade's film will be screened on Saturday, June 18. The festival runs from June 16-26.

PASSION OF WORDS TURNING INTO ACTION: A BLACK DEAF FILMMAKER'S JOURNEY takes you on a journey into the world of a struggling black deaf filmmaker, her work and personal video diaries revealing her battle to conquer inner demons which emerged during production. Jade's film celebrates the trials and tribulations of her 16 years-long career as a filmmaker. Eleanor Roosevelt's quote embodies Jade's passion and journey: "You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself. "I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." For Jade, it means being born with faith and having passion for making your dream reality.

The San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival is the world's oldest and largest celebration of LGBT cinema. Past festivals have delighted over 80,000 attendees with nearly 80 features, including many world and U.S. premieres, and over 150 short films. This is Jade's second appearance at the festival. Her short film, "Cutting The Edge of a Free Bird" was selected for Frameline in 1993.
