Deaf children

From: Cambridge Evening News, UK - May 4, 2005

From Susan Daniels

DID you know there are two babies born deaf every day, and 90 per cent of them are born into hearing families with little or no experience of deafness?

The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) is the only organisation solely dedicated to the support of deaf children and young people, their families and professionals working with them.

NDCS is promoting Deaf Awareness Week - May 2-8 - to improve understanding of deafness and of communication.

Anyone with concerns about their child’s hearing or who is interested in supporting NDCS’s work can contact our Freephone helpline on 0808 800 8880, email helpline@ndcs.org.uk or visit www.ndcs.org.uk
