"Interpreters Who Need a Little Encouragement"

At Mesa Community College, Southern & Dobson: 1833 West Southern, Mesa, AZ. Building SC Room 22

This interactive workshop will be presented by Ms. Kirsten Nelson, CT, EIPA 4.5. It is geared for pre-certified interpreters working in the field of educational or community interpreting. The focus of this workshop is to build confidence in our skills, while at the same time increase our vocabulary. Word analysis, conceptual brainstorming and personal interpreting styles will be discussed in depth. Ms. Nelson's goal is that participants leave with increased confidence in their skills, as well as tools for successful, meaningful interpretation.

Ms. Nelson has worked as an Educational and Freelance Interpreter since 1988. She understands the isolation and insecurities interpreters can experience. Ms. Nelson is a gifted motivator and has enjoyed working as a Mentoring Interpreter for the past 3 years. She presently works for Glendale Union High School District, in addition to freelance interpreting in the Phoenix area.

This workshop will be offered at no cost for AZRID members. If you would like to become a member of AZRID, applications will be available the morning of the workshop. Otherwise, Workshop fee is $10 before January 26th, $12 thereafter.

The National Center On Deafness has been approved by the RID CMP to sponsor Continuing Education Activities. This workshop is being offered for .25 CEU's in the Content Area of Professional Studies.
