Ha Noi, Jan. 24 (VNA) - A charitable art performance entitled "Welcoming Spring" will be held in Ha Noi on Jan. 29 to support disabled people and orphans in the city on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet).

This will be part of a charitable programme, "Tet for disabled people and orphans", jointly launched by Ha Noi's Association in Support of the Disabled and Orphans (ASDO) and the Ky Nguyen-Toan Cau Company.

The performance will draw the participation of singers Tung Duong, Ngoc Khue, Le Quyen, Tan Minh, Tuan Hung and Minh Quan, and comedians Xuan Bac and Tu Long, as well as blind and deaf pupils from Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Xa Dan schools.

According to the organising board, all proceeds and money raised by kindhearted people during the show will be used to finance the charitable programme, which has to date received support from many organisations and individuals, including the Viet Nam Commerce Joint Stock Company (50 million VND), the Kinh Do Company (300 gifts and 20 million VND), and the Inter-provincial Telecommunications Company (30 million VND).

Presently, Ha Noi has more than 22,000 disabled people and 5,000 orphans.
