PRESS RELEASE – January 6, 2005

59 NATIONS MARCH AT 2005 DEAFLYMPICS OPENING CEREMONY

Melbourne, Australia – A propaganda machine by the anarchically-managed CISS administration was tested before the world yesterday and today.

And, it has backfired!

Over the last two years the CISS, in order to get the funding from certain sources and to attract a possible large number of Games spectators, used numerous publicity stunts – all of them now appear to be false ones – before the world.

The CISS, by embracing its continuing policies of lawlessness, secrecy, censorship and disorder, has misled the world by providing varying and eye-catching statistics in advance and now, which are related to the number of athletes and nations that would compete at the 2005 Deaflympic Summer Games.

One time ago, at a media event in Melbourne and in the presence of the CISS President, a news item was reported – now, it is being regarded as an untrue one - that the 2005 Games would attract 4,500 athletes from 90 nations. Another source – the CISS e-News Magazine – had been publicizing the statistics – also, false ones – such as "3,000 athletes from about 80 nations." The third source - a statement by the USADSF President made in May, 2004 – that the Games involve some 3,500 deaf athletes from 125 countries ( ! ). Such a statement by the USADSF President now appears to be a concocted and untruthful one.

The worst publicity stunt was witnessed yesterday when Sam Quinn, the much-admired athlete from Australia, by appearing before a large TV set at the stadium, uttered the statistics via his hands such as "3,500 athletes from 94 countries ( !)."

Even a reporter by name of Stathi Paxinos of the local and well-respected THE AGE newspaper produced a substantially inflated figure of the nations participating at the Games. In his today's column, he reported that the Deaflympics "in between came nearly 100 countries some such as the United States, Britain, Greece and Canada with large contingents, and others, such as Brazil and Romania, with much smaller teams."

( Canada, for example, sent a team of just 15 athletes to the 2005 Games ).

In spite of the above varying and highly-encouraging statistics, yesterday about 15,000 spectators and media people, who attended the Opening Ceremonies of the Games at the magnificent 20,000,00-seat Olympic Park Stadium, witnessed the reality.

Although the autocratically and medievally-administered organization of the CISS is still very reluctant to disclose the exact number of athletes officially entered for the ongoing Games to the world, it is estimated that there were between 1,500-1,800 deaf athletes from 59 nations marching at the Opening Ceremonies of the Games last night.

Here is the list of nations whose athletes alphabetically marched in the Opening Ceremonies:

France ( the nation-founder of the Games )

In the highly-unusual development, the two countries – Brazil and USA – marched their delegations at the Opening Ceremonies of the Games illegally and in a total breach of the CISS Constitution and Deaflympic Games Regulations rules.

By January 3, 2005, the first day of the 39th CISS Congress session, Brazil has not paid to the CISS its $25,000.00 penalty fee for pulling out of its 5 different teams from the Games' competitions. But, the CISS still let Brazil's two athletes to march at the Opening Ceremonies.

The USA – the Number One abuser of the CISS legal system – by irresponsibly failing to pay certain penalty fees to the CISS – was allowed by their own two USA-born CISS leaders-anarchists Donalda Ammons and Jerald Jordan to have its athletes and officials ( over 200 of them ) to roam inside the stadium premises during the colorful and well-planned Games Opening Ceremonies!

The plain rules of the CISS Constitution and Deaflympic Games Regulations are these if a country fails to fully meet any of its obligations, including financial one, the country and its athletes and officials would have automatically and completely been banned from attending the 2005 CISS Congress and Games!

Now, you will hopefully realize and see in what kind of the deaf sports world we are dwelling in these modern times!
