Mass. telephone access program

This program is administered by Verizon to provide equipment to people with a disability that would otherwise prevent them from basic use of a telephone. The Massachusetts Commission for the Blind sponsors the program jointly with the Massachusetts Commission of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and/or the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission.

For customers with a hearing disability there are telephones that will boost the volume 40 times. Also, very loud ringers are available to the phone can be heard even when the TV is on.

For people with sight disabilities there are phones with extra large buttons and memory one-touch dialing.
