Videos highlighting deaf professionals honored

(November 22, 2004) — A series of locally produced videotapes that profile successful deaf professionals has won a Media Access Award.

"Achieving Goals" features a physician, a veterinarian, lawyer and professional baseball player and others who talk about how they overcame their hearing loss to attain their goals.

The Media Access Award will be given Jan. 14 in Hollywood.

The series was produced by the Northeast Technical Assistance Center, a federally funded program at Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical Institute for the Deaf. They were produced by David Conyer and edited by Don Feigel.

Copies are available to schools, libraries or parents or those who work with deaf children.
