Teen receives hi-tech aid

Like any teen, Jamie Baughman likes to play games on her computer and she likes to win. And while she's a winner at the computer, Jamie's severe hearing loss has hampered her progress at school. Jamie's mom says even with hearing aids, things can be difficult.

LYNNE BAUGHMAN / JAMIE'S MOM:
"And she gets discouraged too when she knows she should be doing something and she can't understand…because she can't hear what they're explaining to her."

But on Friday, Jamie and her family heard some good news. A new set of hi-tech hearings aids should help Jamie hear much better.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation donated the 5-thousand dollar aids and on Friday staff at the Bob Evan's Hearing Center in Seminole donated their time to fit and adjust them.

LYNDA EVANS / BOB EVAN'S HEARING CENTER:
"Seeing people light up, because suddenly they can hear…they're back in the swing. That's why (we donate our time)."

Back at home and back at the computer, Jamie says she can already hear her music videos better. And hearing words like that is enough for Mom to shed a few tears of thanksgiving.

LYNNE BAUGHMAN / JAMIE'S MOM:
"It makes me very happy."
