AN INVITATION TO EXHIBITORS

8th Biennial National Conference of Deaf Seniors of America

Hosted by Bay Area Coalition of Deaf Senior Citizens' SF-2005 DSA Committee

Hilton San Francisco, Continental Ballroom

August 31-September 4, 2005

The 8th Biennial National Conference of Deaf Seniors of America to be held at the Hilton San Francisco August 31-September 5 will have an exhibition hall as one of its events (Pre-Conference tours and games will be available August 29-31). Exhibitors will have an excellent opportunity to exhibit products and services to the people most interested in them. The Conference, hosted by Bay Area Coalition of Deaf Senior Citizens by its SF-2005 DSA Committee, has already attracted approximately 2,200 paid registrants.

Conference sessions will cover the most current issues and interests facing deaf Senior Citizens today and in the immediate future. This is an ideal opportunity for exhibitors to showcase and network their products and services at display hours arranged to encourage attendance at all the booths.

In 2005, we will have a large and beautifully carpeted exhibit hall and are planning on tying into numerous high profile conference activities. A reception, banquet, luncheon, skits, and entertainment are scheduled to compliment the Conference. Some of the seminars and presentations will range from educational, financial, health care, retirement, travel, and technologies to enhance golden years of seniors - generating enough activities to make hearts flutter.

This premier Conference will bring together a concentrated group of Seniors interested in learning about your products and services. The SF-2005 DSA Conference Committee is dedicated to making this year's Conference a great success for exhibitors and registrants. The Hilton San Francisco has a block of rooms set aside for Conference attendees.

If you would be interested in exhibiting at the SF2005 DSA Conference, please request an Application and Contract for Exhibit Space. Return it as soon as is feasible with savings for earlier commitments. Booths will reserved on a first come basis. ENTERTAINMENT
August 5, 2004

ABC-TV’S “EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” CURRENTLY WORKING ON A HOUSE IN SUBURBAN DETROIT FOR A DEAF COUPLE WHO ARE PARENTS OF A BLIND/AUTISTIC SON

Daily living is a constant struggle for Larry and Judy Vardon. Both are deaf and their 12-year-old son, Lance, is blind and autistic. It’s up to their older son, 14-year-old Stefan, to interpret and hear absolutely everything.

After Stefan wrote a heartwarming essay about his family, ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (EMHE) showed up to redo the house with the latest communications and safety devices for people with hearing loss.

He has been concerned about how his family will be able to communicate when he enters high school and then goes on to college. Both parents use American Sign Language to communicate.

On August 5, ABC's EMHE team came to the small Oak Park, Michigan home of the Vardon Family with the good news that they will give them every high-tech communication and safety solution that is available to people who live with hearing loss. In addition, the team will install devices that will keep the family safe and bring them closer together.

The episode, “Vardon Family,” will air during the 2004-05 television season. The goal of the design team, contractors and hundreds of workers will be to convert the Vardon’s 980-square foot house into a home that is communication friendly on many levels, all in just seven days.

At this time, mom and dad can’t hear their son, Lance and he can’t see his parents using sign language. The ABC's EMHE team will find the best way for them to communicate with each other, a necessity for when Stefan leaves home for college in a few years.

Judy volunteers with blind and deaf children teaching brail and sign language. Larry is a welder at Chrysler Motors and in his free time, he fixes his neighbors’ cars for free – even though they don’t have a garage and regardless of the weather. Stefan plays football in high school and is a car fanatic. Lance is a musical prodigy whose favorite composers are Beethoven and Mozart.

Throughout the episode, an American Sign Language team leader will sign and interpret for the Vardons and viewers.

The location address is:
14300 LaBelle St.
Oak Park, MI 48237

The design team for this episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will feature team leader Ty Pennington, Paul DiMeo, Tracy Hutson, Michael Moloney, Constance Ramos and Preston Sharp.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. The series is executive-produced by Tom Forman and Craig Armstrong.
