DEAF EXPOtm Is Headed For Anaheim!

New interactive demonstrations are the key highlights planned for DEAF EXPO 2004 West taking place at Anaheim Convention Center next to Disneyland on Friday & Saturday, November 5-6, 2004. Major sponsors of this show are Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness and Sprint Relay. As many as eight thousand patrons are expected. The show is open to the general public and many programs are voice-interpreted for the benefit of hearing patrons.

Deaf Home Improvement, sponsored by Countrywide Financial, will feature presentations from Bernard Brown, an expert in making houses "deaf-friendly". There will be hands-on home remodeling demonstrations and Rebuilding Together presentations on home rehabilitation services available for low income deaf or hard of hearing owners.

Captioned Film Demonstration, sponsored by Dolby Laboratories, will demonstrate different technologies that show open captions in movie theatres. There will also be a Deaf Air Travel display with information on airport accessibility and steps to take for uneventful travel.

To date, over 90 exhibits have been confirmed at DEAF EXPO 2004 West. Robert Traina will host the Deaf World Stage with skits, performances and the "DEAF$aire" game show. It is made possible by SorensonVRS. Electronic games will be featured in "Teenage Block" for use by deaf and hearing teenagers. Other activities include "Sign Language Playhouse" for sign language students (coordinator can sign attendance forms); Seminars and Technology Forum, Deaf Art Show and hourly door prize drawings.

This show will mark the twelfth consecutive year Deaf Expo has been held in southern California. Deaf Expo, now a project of Communication Service for the Deaf, has come to be known as the country's largest consumer trade show targeted at the deaf and hard of hearing market and is known for its huge range of exhibits providing information on products and services of interest to deaf consumers, family members, associates and professionals in the field.

Along with the two-day show, there will also be two evening events. "RATHSKELLAR", a visual theatrical show exploring the arts in ASL and deaf culture will perform Friday evening, November 5th at Cook Auditorium in Anaheim and is made possible by MCI Global Relay. A "Deaf Expotm Terrace" with dinner will be held on the roof of the official hotel, Desert Palms Hotel & Resort on Saturday evening, November 6th. The Desert Palms Hotel & Resort is across the street from Anaheim Convention Center .Complimentary Deaf Expotm trams will be provided on both show days.

Tickets will also go on sale shortly through official ticket outlets at all Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD) offices, Center on Deafness Inland Empire (CODIE), Orange County DEAF (OC-Deaf), NorCal Center on Deafness and Postal Plus. Day passes only will be sold at walk-in TicketMaster Ticket Centers.
