Search Widens for Missing Teenage Girl

From: The Scotsman, UK - Jul 23, 2004

By Helen Morgan, PA News

The search is continuing for a vulnerable missing teenage girl who has a young mental age and is partially deaf.

Police are growing increasingly concerned about Elizabeth Ward, 17, who went missing from her home in Whaddon, Cheltenham, on Wednesday.

She is described as white, about 5ft 1ins, of thin build with dyed blond, shoulder length hair. She was last seen wearing green trousers and a grey fleece top with graffiti-type writing and pink edging on the pockets.

Elizabeth was also on a silver mountain bike.

Acting Sergeant Alasdair McCrimmon from Gloucestershire Police said: "We are obviously very concerned about Elizabeth because she is a vulnerable young person and the longer she stays away the more vulnerable she becomes."

Police have conducted searches in areas and addresses throughout the town, but so far she has not been found.

She has connections in the Staffordshire area and it is thought she may have made her way up there.

Gloucestershire Police would appeal to anyone who has seen Elizabeth or who may have information on her whereabouts to contact them on 0845 090 1234 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
