Woman Was Estranged Wife's Daughter

SAN ANTONIO -- A man was convicted of murder Wednesday for strangling his estranged wife's daughter, who was deaf and pregnant.

Jurors convicted Duane Wilson, 45, after about eight hours of deliberation. He faces up to life in prison for the December 2002 slaying of Trishawn Fifer at her home.

Fifer was 28, married and expecting her third child when she was killed two years ago.

During the seven-day murder trial, prosecutors said Wilson was enraged that his wife of 20 years, Marilyn, left him weeks earlier and that he killed her daughter to get back at her.

Fifer's body was found by a passer-by who noticed her 2-year-old daughter barefoot, crying and alone outside their home.

The Wilsons are now divorced.
