Muharraq extend lead in bowling

MUHARRAQ extended their lead in the Bahrain National Bowling League defeating Batelco 8-2 in the 10th week match at the Funland Bowling Centre.

Veteran bowler Mahmood Shareef of Muharraq was the player-of-the-match compiling a high series score of 682 pinfalls which helped Muharraq maintain their two-point lead against reigning champions Al Najma who recorded a comfortable 10-0 win over Al Ahli.

Al Najma's victory kept the pressure on Muharraq whom they meet tonight at 7pm in a crucial match which may decide the fate of the title.

Mohammed Al Shiti starred for Al Najma scoring the high series of 752.

Manama tamed Deaf and Dumb 10-0 to stay in third place, seven point behind Muharraq and Al Najma.

In other matches, Al Nasser beat Sharp 8-2, Isa Town outplayed Al Bander 10-0, Awali eased past Club Power Horse 10-0 and Bahrain Defence Force trounced bottom side Riffa 10-0.

Scoring the high average of 218.6, Al Nasser Club's Osama Khalfan is also holding the high game scratch and handicap scores of 298 and the high series scratch and handicap scores of 767 while Al Najma are leading the in the high game (932) and series scores (2,538).
