Jury Sequestered in Murder Trial

From: WOAI, TX - Jun 29, 2004

The jury was sequestered Tuesday night in Duane Wilson's murder trial. He is accused of strangling his pregnant, deaf step-daughter, Trishawn Fifer, in 2002.

Fifer's family did not want to talk to News 4 WOAI on camera, but it was visibly apparent they are disappointed there is not yet a verdict.

Fifer was found dead in a far northwest side home. Prosecutors say she was strangled in front of her two young children.

Fifer's stepfather, Duane Wilson, sat confident in court Tuesday as jurors heard closing arguments in his murder trial.

Prosecutors say Wilson strangled his stepdaughter to get back at his estranged wife who was filing for divorce.

Wilson's attorney says there is no physical evidence linking him to the crime and that someone else committed the murder.

A neighbor found fifer's body after discovering her two year old daughter wandering in the street looking for help.

Wilson faces up to life in prison if convicted of murder.
