ACT trials sending bus timetables to mobiles

From: ABC Online, Australia - Jun 8, 2004

ACTION buses are launching a six-month trial of a system which will transmit timetable information direct to people's mobile telephones.

Transport Minister Simon Corbell says its another step in making public transport more appealing and convenient.

"The good thing about the trial is that it is at no cost to ACTION apart from some promotional advertising," he said.

"It will also be a big boost for people with a disability because at the moment there are about 83,000 people deaf and hard of hearing people in the ACT.

"This will certainly assist them in getting information on detail of ACTION services when they need it."
