USA Deaf Basketball Tournament at UVSC

In conjunction with the Deaf Studies Today 2004 conference, the USA Deaf Basketball Tournament will hold its 60th annual men's tournament and 14th annual women's tournament at UVSC April 15-17.

The tournament will involve 32 adult teams from around the country that have qualified through regional tournaments. The top teams feature players who have competed at a collegiate and sometimes professional level. Julie Eldridge, an ASL adjunct faculty member at UVSC, is a member of the Utah women's team that recently won the Northwest Athletic Association of the Deaf Championship.

Eldridge has been playing for the Utah team for four years and was on the team in 2002 when it became the first women's team from Utah to go to the national competition.

The best players from the tournament will be selected to attend the 2005 Deaf Olympics in Australia.
