Sign language class to begin

A beginner I Sign Language class taught by Darla Woods will be offered through the Women's Community Y of Leavenworth. The class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 7, 14, 21 and 28 at the Y, 520 S. Broadway St.

Woods has learned America Sign Language (the true language of the deaf), Sign English (which conforms more to the rules of English) and CASE (Conceptually Accurate Sign English which is a blend of ASK and Sign English). She teaches American and CASE in her classes at the Women's Community Y.

Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Fees are charged for the class with a small difference between Y members and non-members. Family rates are available for the class. For further information or to enroll, call the Women's Community Y at 682-6404. Fees are to be paid by April 5 at the Y office, 520 S. Broadway St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
