Gallaudet University Appoints Two New Board Members

Washington, DC—Dr. Glenn Anderson, chair of the Gallaudet University Board of Trustees, recently announced the appointment of two new members: L. Richard (Dick) Kinney, Managing Partner and Principal of Legacy Wealth Management, LLC, and Frank Ross, one of the co-founders and first president of the National Association of Black Accountants. Both of these men previously served as members of Gallaudet's Board of Associates.

Kinney is also a member of Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and active in the SE Wisconsin chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Prior to Legacy Wealth Management, Kinney held senior management positions at Alcan, International Paper, and Morgan Stanley. Kinney is no stranger to the deaf community—his daughter is currently a student at Gallaudet University. He has been actively involved in local deaf organizations as an officer and past board member for the Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and with the Wisconsin School for the Deaf Foundation. Kinney is a graduate of the University of Illinois. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and served two tours in Viet Nam.

Ross recently retired from his position as managing partner of KPMG. He began his career with KPMG in the New York Office and was elected partner in 1977. Ross and eight colleagues founded the National Association of Black Accountants in 1968 and today, that organization provides over $400,000 in scholarships annually to accounting and finance students. In 2001, the Partners of KPMG endowed "The Frank K. Ross/KPMG Endowed Professorship of Accounting" at Howard University in Washington, DC. Ross received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Long Island University in 1998 and an Honorary Doctor of Humane letters in 2001. He was the first graduate of their School of Business, Public Administration and Information Services to be so honored by the University.

"Gallaudet University is extremely fortunate to have Dick Kinney and Frank Ross on our Board of Trustees," said Dr. Anderson. "Kinney, with his familiarity with the deaf community through his association in deaf organizations plus the fact that his daughter is pursuing a degree at Gallaudet, will be an asset on the Board," added Anderson. "Ross and his distinguished career with KPMG along with his humanitarian efforts in providing scholarships to students, will add greater diversity and sensitivity to our Board," said Anderson.
