Deaf Service Center needs used hearing aid donors

Jupiter Courier - Jupiter,FL,USA - Mar 10, 2004

Have a used hearing aid lying around the house? It can be put to good use, says the Deaf Service Center of Palm Beach County.

The organization helps the more than 150,000 hearing-impaired residents of Palm Beach County. A shortage of donations of used hearing aids has force the Service Center to create a waiting list for people who need them.

The agency collects used hearing aids and refurbishes them to make them available at no charge to those in need. Other hearing aids are returned to manufacturers where parts are salvaged and the Center receives credit toward repairs of broken hearing aids.

"Don't throw away used hearing aids," advises Hearing Aid Bank Coordinator Paul Faucher. He suggests that people mail the aids or drop them off at the Deaf Service Center, 3111 S. Dixie Highway, Suite 237, West Palm Beach, FL, 33405.

If you're making a donation, include your name and address and the Center will mail you an acknowledgement for a tax deduction. For more information, call 802-3353.
