ACCESS TO D.C.-AREA THEATERS TO INCREASE
A class action lawsuit was filed last year by members of the D.C.-area deaf and hard of hearing community, seeking access via captioning to movie theaters in that area. Attorneys for the defendants and plaintiffs have reached a proposed settlement which is posted on the following Web site: http://www.lawyers.com/simeoneandmiller/MovieTheaterSettlement.jsp

This is especially of interest if you are a member of the "class": deaf or hard of hearing and live in the D.C. area. This settlement does not address issues of access via description for people who are blind and visually impaired.

WIN A DATE WITH TAD HAMILTON!
This new comedy starring Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush, Remember the Titans), from DreamWorks Pictures (and rated PG-13), debuts with closed captioning this week in select theaters equipped with Rear Window Captioning. There are no descriptions available for this film.

ROADMAP TO MOVIE ACCESS, AUSTIN GETS A STAR

The example Bob has set is providing inspiration and guidance to others around the country. A new MoPix installation debuts this week in Austin, TX, thanks to funds raised by area patrons and to the generous contribution made by AMC Theatres.
