Come join D.E.A.F. Media at the Oakland Museum's Family Explorations!

**EVERYONE WELCOME - DEAF, HEARING, YOUNG, AND YOUNG AT HEART**

LUNAR NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

When: Sunday, January 18, 2004 Noon - 4 p.m.

Presented in collaboration with the National Japanese American Historical Society and East Bay Vietnamese Association Inc., and D.E.A.F. Media.

Where: The Oakland Museum of California, 1000 Oak Street at 10th
(1 Block East of the Lake Merrit Bart Station)

Deaf Events at the Festival:

- 12-3 Art activity (on going): AMELIA WONG together with RAINE CHENG, RON TRUMBLE, D.E.A.F. MEDIA STAFF, VOLUNTEERS and members of the BAY AREA ASIAN DEAF ASSOCIATION (BAADA)

- 1:15 D.E.A.F. Media Docent tour & storytelling: NAN ZHOU

- Plus Interpreted Festival Events: Gong Xi Fa Cai! Celebrate the Year of Monkey with lion dancing; Taiko drumming and mochi pounding; performances by Korean Youth Cultural Center and Tibetan dancers; martial arts demonstrations led by Pacific WuShu; screening of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Okazaki's latest film Nikkei Style; food carving demonstration by chef Jimmy Zhang; family altars from different Asian culture; artists' marketplace; and hands-on art activities for children.

ADMISSION: FREE with RSVP ($8 adults, $5 children/seniors without pre-registration)
Note: this includes free admission to all the museum galleries for the whole day.
