DEAF people who also suffer from other disabilities will be able to get appropriate care and support in Wales for the first time.

A partnership has been forged between the RNID Cymru and the Innovate Trust - a Wales-based organisation which supports people with learning difficulties.

At present there are no specialist care services for deaf people with additional disabilities in Wales, and until now many have been using mainstream services or have been forced to live outside the country.

The new partnership is expected to provide a range of services in Wales, from outreach work enabling deaf people to remain in their own homes, to specialist support in residential care.

The provision of appropriate community care and support services will ensure that deaf people maintain community links and contact with family and friends.
