Entrepreneur Success Award: Professional Hearing-Aid Services

Grand Island Independent, NE - Nov 7, 2003

The company was established by Tom and Lynda Tambling in November 2000 with no client base. The business now has more than 500 patients.

Because Professional Hearing-Aid Services is an independent company, hearing aid instruments can be priced in line with today's economy. The owners said their approach to business is to determine which hearing instrument, from which company, would best serve each patient both in covering the hearing loss and also in cost.

Lynda Tambling said she feels being price sensitive is secondary to the way in which the business approaches patient care.

"We treat them like family," she said. "We care about each and every one of them. They don't become a number to us.

"We are thrilled," Lynda Tambling said of the award. "There aren't words to express our feelings. We praise God for our abilities and the things that he has put in our path. ... We're very pleased and excited to receive this award. It's an honor."

Professional Hearing-Aid Services specializes in hearing instruments for people who have a severe hearing loss and also in digital technology. The Tamblings travel to many of the small towns in Hall County and around Grand Island and also provide in-home service.

The Tamblings hold service centers in the smaller communities and donate their time at care facilities and service centers doing ear health checks and patient care, including checking and cleaning all hearing instruments. The company provides educational programs for organizations on many hearing-related topics, at no cost to the organizations.

The Tamblings are active in the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce and serve on the Progress for Grand Island committee.
