Cochlear named most innovative company

Bionic ear maker Cochlear was the most innovative company in Australia in 2002 for the second year in a row, according to a new report.

The 2003 edition of the R&D and Intellectual Property Scoreboard was today released by the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia and the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research.

Cochlear was the most innovative company in Australia in 2002 for the second year in a row, as measured by the report's Innovation Index.

The index ranks firms by the contribution of their innovative activity to their market value.

Unisearch Ltd, the commercialisation arm of the University of NSW, was the most active in seeking intellectual property protection in Australia.

The company making the most trade mark applications was Effem Foods Pty Ltd.Copyright
