Bandar Seri Begawan – The ambition of two hearing-impaired students from Pusat Bahagia, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to seek a bright future has attracted the attention of a local bank.

The bank is providing the youngsters with sponsorships for an educational programme to enable them to participate in and contribute to the nation-building in a meaningful way.

Mohamad Shahmirol Bin Shahbudin and Dayang Wartina Binti Haji Wasli have been selected to attend a one-year computer course at the Malaysian Institute for the Deaf in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The presentation of sponsorship worth $9,600 was held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday.

Pehin Dato Dr Haii Awang Hussin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, received the contribution from Mr Marcus Hurry, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC.

The scholarship covers the academic fees, return economy air tickets to Kuala Lumpur, stationeries, industrial attachments and subsistence allowances. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
