BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2003--On October 26, 2003, Tripod, a nonprofit organization, presents Songwriters Salon to benefit families and their deaf and hard of hearing children. Songwriters Salon provides the rare privilege of hearing music performed by the original composer. Featuring 13 legendary songwriters performing their greatest hits in an intimate and "unplugged" setting, Songwriters Salon is the first event of its kind presented by Tripod.

The event's all-star line up includes Carole King ("You've Got a Friend," "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman"), Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil ("You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," "On Broadway"), Alan & Marilyn Bergman ("The Windmills of Your Mind," "The Way We Were"), Stephen Bishop ("On and On," "Separate Lives"), Tom Kelly & Billy Steinberg ("True Colors," "Like a Virgin"), Richard Marx ("Right Here Waiting," "This I Promise You"), Amanda McBroom ("The Rose"), David Pomeranz ("Tryin' to Get The Feeling"), Bruce Roberts ("No More Tears (Enough is Enough)"), and Richard M. Sherman ("Chim Chim Cheree," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious") singing some of the most celebrated songs of all time.

Jay Landers, co-chair of the event says, "This is an unparalleled gathering of some of our greatest lyricists and composers. The songs they've written have stood the test of time, and have become our modern day standards."

Chris Montan, Tripod's president adds, "As the father of a deaf son, I am truly gratified by this stellar turnout of these great musical talents to benefit Tripod."

Tripod, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was incorporated in 1982 by parents, educators, and community members to provide support to families and their deaf or hard of hearing children. Over the past 20 years, Tripod has evolved from a model school and family support organization to a mature idea lab that shares "best practices" with parents and educators around the world.

Today, in a unique public/private partnership, the Tripod programs are within the Burbank Unified School District. In addition to co-enrolled classrooms, where hearing and deaf children learn side-by-side, Tripod offers a Family Network, Family Sign Classes, Latino Family Sign Classes, and Hooked on Books -- all of which foster communication in the family and success in the classroom.

All proceeds from Songwriters Salon will benefit Tripod. The event will be held at the home of Ruth and Joe Sinay (1000 Elden Way, Beverly Hills, 90210). The Reception will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by performances starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold for $250 per person. To R.S.V.P please call 818-752-1711.
