IOWA Deaf sweeps Kickapoo

Iowa School for the Deaf shook off some rust from a week long layoff, but managed to sweep Kickapoo Nation, Neb., 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 in prep volleyball action Thursday evening at the Lied Center.

Down in the third set, the Bobcats were led back by the serving of Cassandra Case. She was solid all evening for Iowa Deaf and finished 24-for-24 serving with five aces.

Also contributing for the Bobcats was Erin Huntrods, who chipped in off the bench with 8-for-9 serving and five aces.

Jada Hart switched positions due to Iowa Deaf's shorthandedness and came up with 16 set assists.

Bobcat coach Karen Lechner was pleased with the senior leadership from her team.

"They provided good floor leadership tonight," she said.
