Escapee Search Could Be Connected To Stolen Van

A missing truck from the North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton may have a connection to a jail escapee serving time for two murders.

20 year old Bennie Hobbs escaped from the Western Youth Institute south of Morganton Saturday night.

He was serving a 49 year sentence after being convicted of killing two people.

Earlier today the North Carolina School of the Deaf reported a truck missing just two miles from where correctional officers were searching.

Police are looking for a white 2000 Chevrolet cargo van with tag the number PM 9933.

If you spot the van call your local police department immediately.
