NTID to honor poet's memory
From: Rochester Democrat Chronicle, NY - May 17, 2003
(May 17, 2003) — A tribute to honor noted deaf poet Clayton Valli, who died unexpectedly following surgery in Florida in March, will be held Monday at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
The multimedia tribute in American Sign Language will be introduced by deaf actor Patrick Graybill.
The event will also be voiced.
Valli, 51, attended NTID and worked as an artist-in-residence at Rochester School for the Deaf, and gave workshops on ASL at NTID and the University of Rochester.
The tribute, from 7 to 8 p.m., is free at NTID's Robert Panara Theater. A cake reception will follow.
Donations will be accepted for a scholarship in Valli's name to help educate deaf children about ASL poetry.
Contributions may be sent to the Dr. Clayton L. Valli Scholarship Fund, in care of Frances Eaton, 37 Folly Mill Terrace, Seabrook, N.H. 03874.
