Local couple honored for donation to school

SPARTANBURG -- A Lake Wylie couple will be honored today at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind for their donations for a specialized lab.

Shirley and Wallace B. Dalton will be honored at a special dedication ceremony at 1 p.m. in the school's Pennell Building, room 22 at 1 p.m. The couple donated five Power MacIntosh G4 computers for the school's new digital arts lab.

Wallace Dalton's father was a 1907 graduate of the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind and pursued a career in the printing industry. He also founded the Richmond, Va., chapter of the National Fraternal Association of the Deaf.

The S.C. School for the Deaf and the Blind is a specialized instructional and resource center that provides services statewide for deaf, blind or sensory multi-disabled individuals.
