Performer gives a unique glimpse into deaf culture

Patricia (Trix) Bruce, known nationwide as a workshop presenter and an ASL performer, prresents two of her one-woman shows next week at Monroe Play House.

At 8 p.m. Thursday, Bruce presents "A Handmade Treasury of Deaf Folktales," exploring how the heart and soul of deaf culture is passed from generation to generation through sign language folktales, stories, jokes, puns, and other forms of cultural expression. At 8 p.m. April 25, Bruce presents "Tales of a Mad, Mad, Mad ASL World" in which she performs amazing feats of American Sign Language skill in creative storytelling. Information: www.trixbruce.com/performance/april25.htm.
