FIRST DEAF DRIVER AT EL CAJON SPEEDWAY NASCAR SERIES

San Diego, CA - April 23, 2003- Evan Adair on April 12 will be the first Deaf driver to run at the El Cajon Speedway during a NASCAR Series.

The enhanced vision commonly known in deaf individuals makes Evan a perfect candidate for racing. Silent Thunder Racing Team has recognized these skills and has brought on Evan Adair as the driver of one of their 3 stock cars. Also to be proven is other deaf individuals working with hearing persons to create this unique race team.

Communication is key to operating such a team. Members use American Sign Language, home signs as well as speechreading to communicate. When conditions are right these skills work perfect. As conditions change the team adapts to whatever means necessary to communicate.

As like any other team Silent Thunder Racing has been searching for sponsors for the last few months to help with operating expenses, The team was noticed by a local company Henry's Marketplace who has sponsored this team for the 2003 race season. Other sponsors include; Penta Water, Stretch Island, Fox Flooring, EL Jefe Salsa and LeeJen Enterprises.

The other driver Lauri Wong is also the co-owner and former superbike rider. She is a mother of 3. Robin Tutterow, co-owner has put together the finest pit crew, which is combined of experts in the mechanical and fabrication fields. Team members include; crew chief Roland Nocon, Ernie Teixeira, Jon Hiatt, engineer John Hickle, and Michele Grote.

Their plans are to provide a positive roll model for young individuals and their families. "We are eager to provide a significant impact on the community," says Evan Adair. The team will show the public how teamwork and good sportsmanship is achieved. They also hope to get more local fans to enjoy NASCAR racing at El Cajon Speedway.
