SOME of Australia's best rock and blues musicians put on a concert for the deaf yesterday.

Joe Camilleri, Vika and Linda and the James Reyne Band came together for a charity concert called Perfect Day. The proceeds went to Taralye, an oral language learning centre.

Guests at the concert, held at Dame Elisabeth Murdoch's home, Cruden Farm in Langwarrin, enjoyed a picnic lunch and fine wine.

Joe Camilleri, lead singer of bands Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons and the Black Sorrows, was more than happy to lend his voice to the cause.

"We take for granted that we can hear and speak and sing. If my music can in some way help to get deaf kids talking – that's great, that's perfect," he said.

Taralye provides services to infants as young as two weeks by supporting and educating deaf children.
